The round ends when all three monsters are killed. Overview- Nancy has been called away to a Bavarian Castle known has Castle Finster in Germany, to solve a mystery about a monster terrorizing the residents there. The second round is where the players switch roles. The monster seems to vanish for years at a time only to reappear without warning to claim another young girl as his victim, seemingly always. If you win, Lukas will let you select a Raid card deck of three. There are a few things that I look for in a game in order for it to be one of my favorites – premise of the game, setting of the game, the characters, and the mini-games. One of the reasons why I love this game is because it takes place in a German castle. I am of German descent, and I took German all four years in high school. I was even the vice president of German Club my junior year and president my senior year. I was also in my high school’s National German Honor Society. So it is nice to play a game about something I am familiar with. Nancy has to learn different German words, and I already knew them. The characters are great, and I love listening to their accents. There is no trivia tamer award despite a trivia question appearing at the end of the game.I play multiple rounds of each, and I love the fact I was able to create a new character for Karl’s game.Although Nancy finds the scarf belonging to Renate's missing sister, the subplot is abruptly dropped.Nancy and Lukas see the "real" monster walking past the windows, despite it being on the second floor. It would only appear in the next two games before hints are integrated into the task list for The Deadly Device.Ĭontinuity Foreshadowing Main/recurring character revelations Allusions Goofs This is the first game to include the Hint Hotline feature on Nancy's phone. This is the first game since Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon to feature one disc for installation instead of two.Markus is the owner of the castle who simply wants Nancy to find the monster and doesn't really value her work. His brother, Joe, is with Ned, but she can never talk to him in this game. She can get hints from an app called the Hint Hotline that Ned installed on her phone if she's a Junior Detective.įrank is another detective Nancy knows. Nancy uses a cell phone that can be accessed by an icon at the bottom of the screen, although it doesn't get much reception in the castle, so she has to call people on a land line in her room. She's brusque but full of stories and wisdom, and seems to have a history at the castle. Renate is a traveling storyteller who is currently staying at the castle. Being left alone most of the time, he usually finds a way to get into trouble, which most of the time relies on playing pranks on Karl. Lukas is the son of Franz, the head of security, and Anja's nephew. She's trying to maintain a good attitude as well, but feels as though something is innately wrong. He usually stays secluded in his office, and is extremely worried about the monster problem, although he tries not to show it so that his attitude won't affect the castle's residents.Īnja is the castle's Castellan, who runs the gift shop and is in charge of various other aspects. Karl is the Bürgermeister, the "master" of the castle.
